A8 JOINS S-CLASS IN R744 LIMO CLUB

AUDI confirmed to SightGlass News at the Frankfurt motor show that the new A8 will run an R744 air-conditioning system, but only for some markets.

Details about the system and where it is destined remain scarce, but Audi has publicly described its air quality sensor that “detects harmful gases and activates the recirculated air mode as necessary”, with a filter that “eliminates the bulk of these gases and particulates, and also neutralizes many allergens”.

There is also a cabin air ioniser and fragrancer that “feeds either a summer or winter fragrance into the interior”.

A sunlight sensor on rear shelf optimises AC settings when sunlight is shining into the car from behind and every variant bar the plug-in hybrids have 48V electrical systems.
