AASRA reappointed: Right to Repair momentum builds under MVIS

The Australian Automotive Service and Repair Authority (AASRA) has been reappointed as Scheme Adviser to support the Motor Vehicle Service and Repair Information Sharing Scheme (MVIS) until 30 June 2027.

The decision is seen as evidence that the scheme is delivering practical outcomes for workshops, rather than remaining a policy aspiration, by translating legislated rights into everyday access to repair information.

Established in 2022, AASRA was created to operationalise MVIS and provide day-to-day support for independent repairers seeking access to modern vehicle repair information at a fair price, while protecting consumers’ right to choose where their vehicle is repaired.

The authority operates a single-credential online portal designed to streamline access across participating brands and link directly to information portals run by non-participating OEMs.

Australian Automotive Aftermarket Association (AAAA) chief executive Stuart Charity said: “It’s not enough to pass a law and hope for the best. Without an operational arm, nothing happens. AASRA is that arm. Every day it helps workshops navigate OEM systems, lifts provider compliance and clears the access roadblocks that delay modern repairs.”
