Future of vehicle modification and workshop innovation at Autocare 2025
- PostedPublished 22 February 2025
Autocare 2025, which returns to Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on 20-21 June, will run alongside the National Light Vehicle Modifications Summit, a critical forum for aftermarket leaders, manufacturers, and regulators to discuss the future of vehicle modification in Australia.
The event, hosted by the Australian Automotive Aftermarket Association (AAAA), will also feature a Workshop Management Training Program aimed at equipping business owners and managers with the knowledge and strategies needed to navigate an evolving industry. The Technical Training Program will provide hands-on sessions on advanced diagnostics, servicing next-generation vehicles, and mastering the latest repair techniques.

During the two days of cutting-edge training and policy discussions will be the Autocare 2025 tradeshow – at which VASA will be exhibiting – and networking opportunities bringing together workshop owners, technicians, and aftermarket leaders.
Returning after its successful debut in 2023, the National Light Vehicle Modifications Summit will tackle key regulatory challenges, including the national review of VSB 14, state-by-state inconsistencies in modification laws, and the evolving ROVER approval process.

Running in parallel with the Technical Training Program at Autocare 2025, the Workshop Management Training Program will cover key trends, AI integration, staff retention, leadership innovation, and the impact of EVs and ADAS technology on workshops.
AAAA CEO Stuart Charity emphasised the event’s significance: “Autocare 2025 is a must-attend event for workshop owners and managers who want to take their business to the next level. The industry is changing rapidly, and this is the best opportunity to gain the insights, skills, and connections needed to thrive.”
Alongside the training programs, the free-to-attend Autocare Trade Show will showcase more than 120 leading companies demonstrating the latest in automotive technology, products, and services. A dedicated networking event will also provide a valuable opportunity for industry professionals to connect in a dynamic setting.

The National Light Vehicle Modifications Summit will also cover GCM/GVM upgrades, ADAS calibration, EV modifications, and the implications of the recently introduced New Vehicle Efficiency Scheme (NVES) on larger diesel and petrol vehicles.
Attendees will gain insights into the link between modification and certification, industry advocacy strategies, and the role of research and testing in shaping the future of customisation.
Highlighting the summit’s importance, AAAA government relations director Lesley Yates said: “Our industry is the backbone of Australia’s automotive innovation. The Summit is the only event where regulators and the aftermarket industry come together to discuss policies that will shape the future of vehicle modifications. If you’re a modifier, this is your chance to have your say.”

The event will also feature guest speaker Alan Butler, widely known as ‘Turbo Yoda’ from The Skid Factory, who will share his insights on the challenges and opportunities facing the modification community today.
Autocare 2025 is expected to attract thousands of technicians, business owners, and industry leaders seeking to future-proof their operations.
