Have your say: RAC Permit Scheme consultation closes on February 28
- PostedPublished 21 February 2025
Australia’s federal Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) is running a public consultation survey about permit schemes, including the one operated by the Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC).
The survey is live now and will close at 5pm on 28 February 2025.
VASA members are encouraged to take part in the survey

Feedback from permit holders and other industry stakeholders is being collected about the licence application process and conditions, ARC permit condition checks and DCCEEW’s compliance approach, communications with permit holders and equipment owners and users, as well as the training and qualification requirements for permit holders.
These schemes regulate the handling and trade of ozone-depleting and synthetic greenhouse gases, in line with the Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Management Regulations 1995 and play a critical role in reducing emissions from regulated refrigerants, which are potent greenhouse gases.
Feedback on these areas will inform improvements to the way DCCEEW manages these permit schemes and ensure that industry practices meet high environmental and regulatory standards. It is crucial in supporting the ongoing development and success of these permit schemes.
