Hiring in Victoria? Government incentives for taking on retrenched car factory workers
- PostedPublished 26 March 2018
UP TO $11,000 in subsidies and reimbursements are offered to businesses that employ retrenched car manufacturing workers in Victoria under the State Government’s Back to Work scheme.
An incentive of up to $7000 is offered for hiring eligible retrenched auto workers in an ongoing full-time or part-time role, with up to $4000 extra available when providing accredited training to these employees.
Former auto workers have a range of skills and cover a wide range of occupations, including machine operators and assembly workers, technicians and trades workers, sales and administrative staff. Also among them are professionals such as engineers, accountants and managers.
Victorian VASA members with a job opening that would suit a former auto worker are encouraged to call Victorian Government Skills and Jobs Centres on 134 389.
The Back to Work scheme is open until June 30 2018 or until the fund is fully subscribed.
