Need an ARCtick ticket? Accredited auto-AC training by CoolDrive and TAFE NSW

CoolDrive Auto Parts has partnered with TAFE NSW to deliver specialised two-day automotive air-conditioning training courses to help address the growing demand for certified technicians in the sector.

Successful completion of the course leads to a statement of attainment, enabling participants to apply for an ARCtick refrigerant handling licence.

Next scheduled for August 1-2, 2025 at CoolDrive’s Yatala facility in Queensland, the two-day accredited program aims to equip automotive professionals with diagnostic skills, repair techniques and routine servicing capabilities for modern auto-AC systems.

The course covers two essential units: AURETU104 (Diagnose and repair air conditioning and HVAC components) and AURETU103 (Service air conditioning and HVAC systems).

Participants must be actively engaged in the automotive sector with credentials such as AUR30320 (Auto Electrical), AUR30620 (Auto Mechanical), or AUR31120 (Heavy Automotive).

Attendees must also obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI) before enrolment and secure an ARCtick Trainee Licence (CL000) to legally handle refrigerants during training.

Five prerequisite online learning modules must also be completed through TAFE NSW before attending, covering topics from basic air-conditioning introduction to servicing procedures.

The hands-on program includes servicing modern air-conditioning systems, diagnostic procedures for common faults, refrigerant recovery and pressure diagnosis.

Running from 8am to 4pm over two consecutive days, group sizes limited to 14 participants per session. The $989 + GST fee includes lunch and refreshments.
