Nissan’s self-parking office chair
- PostedPublished 26 February 2016
IT HAS the feel of an April fool’s joke that came early, but Japanese car manufacturer Nissan has come up with an office chair that automatically returns to its original position tucked under a desk in response to a clap of the hands.
The technology was inspired by (and is a publicity stunt for) Nissan’s autonomous hands-free parking system Intelligent Parking Assist.
Nissan produced two videos, the first demonstrating the chairs working in various office environments and the second a ‘making of’ look at the technology that inspired the automated chairs and what is inside their motorised bases.
