Toyota Motor Corporation Australia has entered into a binding letter of intent with VivoPower to collaborate on the electrification of LandCruiser 70 Series models using conversion kits designed and manufactured by VivoPower subsidiary Tembo.
VASA member GB Auto is the exclusive Australia-wide distributor of Tembo products, committing to 2000 conversions over the first four years and having already pre-sold many of them.
GB Auto will partner with VivoPower on the collaboration with Toyota.
Upon completion of a Master Services Agreement between VivoPower and Toyota, the intention is to forge a five-year exclusive partnership for the electrification of LandCruiser 70 Series vehicles, with the option to extend for two more years.
VivoPower chairman and CEO Kevin Chin said the partnership was “testament to the outstanding potential of Tembo’s technology to decarbonise transportation in some of the world’s toughest and hardest to decarbonise industries”.
“it is a tremendous opportunity for us to work directly with Toyota Australia to optimize the Tembo product and deliver it to more customers around the world, helping them to achieve their net-zero carbon objectives in the process.”
