AFTERMARKET EXPO PREVIEW

The Expo is a great opportunity for VASA to raise its profile and strengthen ties among the automotive industry, engage with existing members and recruit new ones.

SightGlass News readers are encouraged to attend the Expo and visit VASA representatives on stand T36.

A number of VASA member companies and affiliated organisations will also be exhibiting in Melbourne this April.

The Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC) will be on stand C51, Ashdown Ingram again have two stands (L48 and N42), Autodata is on F10, Baxters is at F54 and Century Yuasa Batteries can be found at L02.

CoolDrive Distribution is located at stand L24, with Denso on E42 and Hella at J02.

The Institute of Automotive Mechanical Engineers (IAME) will have stand E49, JAS Oceania is exhibiting on stand R42, Natrad will be at G46 and Paint & Panel Magazine  is located at stand AA21.

Redarc Electronics has stand F50, Bosch is on G18, SuperCool Asia Pacific will he at R24, The Automotive Technician is occupying D41 and the Victorian Automotive Chamber of Commerce (VACC) can be found at C08.

A programme of educational seminars and workshops will take place throughout the Expo, under the banner of this year’s slogan ‘Build a Better Auto Business’.

Official networking and awards events will take place on the Thursday and Friday.

In addition, VASA vice-president Brett Meads will  deliver two free seminars at the Expo on Saturday April 8 about new industry standard automotive refrigerant R1234yf, entitled ‘Life After R134a’.

Topics covered will include the history and evolution of automotive refrigerants, the drivers of change including ozone depletion and global warming potential, how industry has responded to overseas legislation controlling HFCs, a comparison of current and new refrigerant characteristics including flammability, changes to equipment, components and working procedures brought about by new refrigerants and the related standards, licensing and legislation.

A brief introduction to R744 (carbon dioxide) refrigerant, plus the opportunity for questions and answers, will also be provided at each seminar.

These hour-long information sessions will take place at 10.30am and 2.30pm in Hospitality Suite 1 at the Australian Auto Aftermarket Expo, accessed via the organiser’s office within the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Attendees do not need to book and as such, early arrival will help secure a seat.

However, the Expo is a trade-only event and all visitors to the event must register.

Admission to the Expo is free for qualified members of the automotive industry.
