- PostedPublished 24 July 2020
The New South Wales Government is inviting submissions into its review of the Motor Dealers and Repairers Act that regulates the state’s automotive industry.
In addition to providing a regulatory framework for motor dealers, recyclers, repairers and related trades plus standards of conduct and obligations for licensees, the Act contains compliance and enforcement mechanisms and protections for consumers and industry.
A discussion paper has been published and the NSW Government is seeking feedback via an online form, email or post on a number of points:
- Objectives of the Act and if they are still relevant
- Who should be regulated and how
- Consumer and industry safety and protections
- How best to regulate in an ever-changing environment and respond to challenges faced by the industry
The paper also raises issues and questions that repairers may wish to address in their submissions and other comments to help improve the regulatory framework are also welcomed.
VASA members in NSW are encouraged to participate in this regulatory review. Submissions close at 11.59 pm on Friday, August 14 2020.
